A low guard with the point toward the ground in front, crossed over the lead leg, from which crooked cuts and thrusts rise.
Hold the sword in front of the lead knee with the point down and the hands crossed or nearly so. From here a or a rising thrust comes naturally, and the guard invites the opponent to attack the apparently open head, where a cut from the barrier meets them on the way in. The gloss names it as a guard that can be made from the Krumphau.
