A descending short-edge cut with the hands high, which displaces a strong cut or Pflug while the point goes at the face.
The Schiel is thrown like an but with the blade turned so that the leads and the hands stay high in front. It is said to break and to be the answer to the "buffalo", the opponent who relies on force: the short edge takes their strong cut while your point finds their face or chest.
